Pines’ 5th graders build lasting connections with high school pen pals

On P.S. I Love You Day, Ms. Mann’s fifth graders from Pines Elementary began writing and exchanging letters with students in Hauppauge High School’s leadership class. Over the course of five weeks, the students became pen pals, forming meaningful connections while getting to know one another.

On March 19, the letter writing culminated in a highly anticipated in-person meet-up, where the high schoolers visited Pines to meet their pen pals face-to-face. After formal introductions, the students participated in fun games, including a round of beach ball hot potato, featuring questions to help students get to know one another better.

Moving forward, the elementary and high school students are excited to continue connecting and nurturing their newfound friendships.
