From April 1–4, Hauppauge Middle School proudly celebrated World Languages Week. Each morning during advisory, students viewed a special video introducing the day's activities and spotlighting a fun fact along with a word or expression in each of the three languages taught at HMS—Spanish, French, and German.
Skylar Dill kicked off the week with an introduction video, followed by Alexa Grandstaff presenting in Spanish, Val Rosero in French, and Charlotte Rodgers in German. Throughout the week, students also shared food and cultural traditions from their heritage in their language classes, enriching the experience for everyone.
On April 3, students tested their knowledge during a trivia contest focused on the three languages offered at HMS. Congratulations to Jake Collins who won the contest! That evening, the school hosted International Night, which brought together students, families, and cultures in a vibrant celebration.
In addition, students showcased their creativity in a poster contest themed Languages are the Key to the World. Congratulations to Natalie Padilla who won the contest! Winners of both the trivia and poster contests received a $25 Amazon gift card, generously donated by the PTA.
