Author Lisa Muchnik visited Pines Elementary School to share her book, “Rainbow Panda”, with students.
In the story, a panda and his friends practice yoga deep in the jungle, but the panda feels sad because he doesn't have the bright colors or special features like his friends. Through a journey exploring the seven chakras, Panda discovers his own inner rainbow and learns to embrace his radiant inner beauty.
Following the read aloud, Lisa led the students in doing mindful breathing techniques and practicing yoga poses. She then discussed the chakras, or energy centers, in their bodies. Students reflected on what they can do to feel their best physically, emotionally and mentally. To wrap up the event, each student received a colorful scarf representing the rainbow colors inside all of us, which they released together in a symbolic gesture of shared positivity.
