Forest Brook 4th graders “reflect” on animal predators’ use of vision & light

Ms. Firestone's fourth graders at Forest Brook Elementary recently completed an engaging science project focused on vision and light. Students selected a predator and designed a detailed model on construction paper to illustrate how light reflects into the animal’s eye, enabling it to spot prey.

Using Canva, the students creatively labeled their models with key vocabulary words such as optic nerve, nocturnal, processing and more. The students further researched their chosen predators, including the prey they hunt and the light sources they rely on.

This hands-on project combined art, technology and science, offering students a deeper understanding of the roles light and vision play in the animal kingdom!
