For the past few years, the Hauppauge School District has received funding to offer eligible students full-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK). This program typically begins in mid-September.
Eligibility for the UPK program is as follows:
Students must be Hauppauge School District residents
Children who turn four on or before December 1st of the current year, and are first eligible for Kindergarten in September of the following year, are eligible to enroll in the district's lottery system to participate in UPK.
Students who are eligible for Kindergarten (those who turn five on or before the current year, December 1st) are not eligible for the Universal Pre-K program, as per state eligibility requirements.
Lottery:
Eligible families will first fill out the Lottery Entry Form (click here) to be entered into the UPK Lottery. A Home Language Questionnaire and Residency Questionnaire via Google Form Links will be provided at the time that registration opens which will be following the conclusion of the UPK Lottery. Applications will be due back by the deadline provided. Once the lottery takes place, there will be a waiting list (subject to random order) If a family declines the offer, or does not register their child, the next student on the waiting list will be offered a place in the program.
