Library 1

Throughout July and August, Hauppauge School District’s kindergarten through fifth-grade students participated in the district’s Elementary Library Program.

Held in Hauppauge High School’s library on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the summer, students can practice their decoding, comprehension, and fluency skills as well as math computation, fluency, and problem-solving skills. Each week features a unique theme to add more fun to the program. For example, so far, students have dressed up for and taken part in Superhero Day, Career Day, Sports Day, Disney Day, and more.

Hauppauge High School volunteers, including members of the English Honor Society, work in small groups with their younger peers to provide motivation and encouragement. The Hauppauge Public Library graciously provides additional books for students to check out as part of the program.
