STEAM/Coding

About the Department

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. STEAM education is an approach to learning that integrates these disciplines into classroom areas, lessons, and daily routines. STEAM education emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning that requires students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

STEAM education aims to spark imagination and creativity through the arts in ways that naturally align with STEM learning. STEAM education can result in children who take thoughtful risks, engage in hands-on learning, persist in problem solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.

Middle School coding is a creative activity that teaches students how to give computers instructions in a language they understand. Coding can help students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and it can also be fun.

Coding classes for high school students can teach kids how to build their own websites and apps, and make them interactive and user-friendly. Students can also learn how to customize their projects.

Coding can also help students build computational thinking and improve their exposure to real-life situations.
